LVDUG Meeting

Start:
2011-03-04 18:30 - 21:00 America/Los_Angeles
User group meeting
Organizers:

I wanted to get this done last weekend, but time got away from me.

Here is the event for the next LVDUG meeting: March 4 from 6:30 PM until 9:00 PM (or whenever we finally leave) at Pinkpeas Pregnancy and Parenting Care Center (the same time and place as last time, but on the first Friday of the month, rather than the second). Feel free to show up a few minutes early to get situated. Hopefully, I won't have any clients deleting users off their server (or something similar) next time. You may contact me at 702 (hyphen) 308 (hyphen) 2602 if you get lost or turned around or ....

Last time, it was mentioned that everyone could help a little by contributing to the refreshments, so I'm putting that up here for people to volunteer for. What we need are the following:

  • 3 people to volunteer to bring a six pack of soda (whatever you deem appropriate).
  • 3 people to volunteer to bring a six pack of beer or hard cider (whatever you deem appropriate, although corporate brews will probably not be touched).
  • 4-6 to volunteer to bring a snack of some sort (chips, cookies, cut veggies, etc.). I don't think we need full blown dinners, but some thing to munch on would sure be nice.

Be sure to buy something you prefer, because you will be taking your leftovers home with you. :^)

I will have drinking water available (not tap water), an ice chest (smaller than last time) with ice to keep the beverages cold and probably a six pack of my favorite beer.

We also would like two people to step up and volunteer to present something at the meeting: one presentation at a more introductory or basic level and one at a more advanced level. They should be about 15-20 minutes long and expect a little Q&A related to your presentation during and afterward.

For ideas about presentation topics, review Future Meetings for what is being discussed about the last meeting and potential plans for future meetings. Personally, I'm really interested in learning about setting up and using Aegir. So if there's anyone who knows anything about that...

I think as compensation, presenters should not be expected to bring anything other than their materials.

Also, one of our members is allowing us to use his projector for the meeting, and I have access to a screen, so we should have it a little easier seeing the presentation this time. I will have a VGA cable, so if your computer doesn't support that output connector, please bring an adapter.

So, signup for the event, leave a comment telling everyone how you plan to contribute, and show up!
