I'm interested in holding discussions about how and in what kind of direction an Open Source Drupal effort in Japan should be organized. Part of the reason why I formed the Tokyo Drupal User Group against opposition was because whatever I tried to suggest or get going as a Drupal newbie and voluteering organizer, I was being told to get back in place. English is my first language and I am experienced in venture capital and M&A businesses (as well as IT). So as far as starting something goes, that's what I specialize in. And I also speak and write fluent Japanese to an extent.
To my knowledge there is no organization, planning or any group in Japan that shares an organizational goal. That has been the primary reason for lacking in motivation to get involved with a Drupal community in Japan for me. Starting from day one, I've been told that's not the open source way, now I only say to some of those who don't wish to openly start an organized organization in Japan that they abide by their words. I volunteered to do some planning, and was told to take a hike because nobody put me in charge, true and yes I was volunteering. I'm not interested in being in charge. I'm interested in creating and preparing environments in Tokyo.
For these reasons, I would like to ask those who are interested in creating a Japanese Drupal environment through PLANNING and ORGANIZATION, to join in on this discussion at the Tokyo Drupal User Group. And maybe from those discussions we may form a decent committee that can make the right kinds of decisions and form a community.
Interested in meetups? Go right ahead and suggest some locations and dates. You do not have to be a Drupal expert, frankly I think the technology details can come later.
