Hi all, my name's Jean-André Santoni. I live in France, I'm still a student and I am interested in Drupal :)
Here is my proposal for Drupal and GSOC 2009 :
Sopac2 (the social OPAC) is a Drupal module that can connect to an ILS (Integrated Library System) so Drupal can replace traditionnals OPACs (Online Public Access Catalog). This module is just kick-ass, because it adds many social features that traditionnal OPACs lacks. I think it is the future of OPACs!
Sopac2 can connect to any ILS through one of its main lib called Locum. Locum modularity allows developpers to create as many connectors that there is ILS existing. For the moment, there is only two connectors, both for proprietary ILS (III Millennium 2006 and Sirsi Dynix Horizon).
So my project is to code a connector for Koha.
Koha is an open source ILS written in perl. In fact, it is the only open source ILS that can actualy support important libraries.
I am developping a set of web services for Koha that follows the standard DLF ILS-DI. The connector will be able to speak with Koha using these web services.
I already have a proof of concept. But I would like to code something much cleanner, with the help of a mentor.
