We are a small web design and development firm in Cambridge, specializing in marketing and community-building websites for nonprofits, small businesses, and academic clients. You can find out more about us at http://www.digital-loom.com.

We do almost all our development using the Drupal content management system, so we're definitely looking for someone with a love of Drupal and significant experience with core Drupal and contributed modules.

We are looking for your help to:

  • Develop sites according to detailed site maps and wireframes, using Drupal, existing modules, and custom modules.
  • Theme Drupal sites
  • Perform browser testing and debugging.
  • Work with project manager and information architect where needed in developing technical specifications, project plans, budgets, and wireframes.
  • Occasionally participate in sales meetings, consult with clients, and give technical demonstrations to clients/

We'd like to work with someone who:

  • Is smart and has at least 2 years' experience developing with PHP, MySQL, XHTML/CSS, jQuery, and Drupal.
  • Has experience using existing Drupal modules, including Ubercart/Drupal e-Commerce, CCK, Views, Panels.
  • Knows the Drupal hook system and can develop custom modules.
  • Knows these technologies well enough to troubleshoot a wide range of website problems: DNS, Apache 2, RedHat & CentOS Linux.
  • Pays close attention to visual and functional detail.
  • Cares about doing top-notch work and taking good care of clients.
  • Has excellent communication, interpersonal, and client-facing skills.
  • Can stay organized and meet deadlines on multiple projects at once.
  • Is willing to start out as a contractor but would like this to turn into a full-time position at some point.
  • Telecommuting is cool with us, but we would like you to be available for on-site meetings at least once a week.

If you're interested, please get in touch with Amelia Leason and send:

  • A brief note explaining why you think you're a good match.
  • A few samples of work you completed. If you created it with a team, be clear about your role.
  • Two or three solid references.
  • Your desired hourly rate.

Oh yeah, and if you live far away from Boston or are an overseas outsourcing firm, please don't contact us. We want someone local we can drink beer with after work.
