Position Title: Software Developer
Organizational Relationships: Reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer
Position Summary: Serve as software developer for WICHE. Develops and maintains software applications across multiple projects and departments at WICHE.
Classification: Full-time (37.5 hours per week), exempt level staff member
Starting Salary Range: $46,480 - $56,100 on a full-time annual basis

The Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education – WICHE – is a regional agency established in the 1950’s through an interstate compact. WICHE was created to promote and to facilitate resource sharing, collaboration, and cooperative planning among Western states, their colleges and universities, and their systems of higher education. Member states are: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Works closely with the Chief Technology Officer to develop secure, reliable, maintainable and well documented systems, utilizing existing in-house hardware and software platforms, including Linux Apache web and Microsoft SQL and MySQL servers.

Works closely with the Senior Software Developer and other project coordinators to develop new systems and enhance capabilities of existing systems.

Works to re-design and automate business processes to increase productivity and efficiency, utilizing standardized web and database technologies, such as drupal, .php, .jsp, MSSQL, MySQL.

Responsible for ongoing maintenance and upgrades of existing systems.

Manages time between multiple departments and projects. This position requires exceptional time management and workload management skills.
Position Specifications:
Required:

A degree in Computer Science or related field. Students near completion in their degree may also be considered.

Demonstrated programming ability. This position requires coding in web based software systems. Tasks will include T-SQL programming, Report writing, import/export of data, creating forms and queries with client and server side validation, building, maintaining and revising custom web apps in Drupal, .php or other similar languages.

Ability to work with Microsoft/IIS and/or Linux/Apache web servers, Drupal content management systems, database connectors and databases, utilizing various web development tools.

This position requires the ability to divide time into project related blocks and to complete multiple, unrelated, deadline oriented projects on time.

Preferred:
1. Drupal development experience.

Java, .jsp or other object oriented programming experience.

PHP and MySQL administration experience.

Salesforce Development experience.
