Web Developer / Adaptive Technology Consultant
Full-time Programmer Analyst II
Salary: $3731 - $6655 monthly
Work as part of the Web Team and the Disabilities and Computing Program of the Office of Information Technology (OIT), focusing on the convergence of web design, web accessibility and adaptive technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain accessible websites using Drupal, Plone, and Wordpress.
- Develop custom PHP/MySQL applications for research projects.
- Ensure that those web sites 1) adhere to web standards, 2) adhere to the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative Guidelines, and 3) are accessible by adaptive equipment and software.
- Convert supplied designs from graphic compositions (in Adobe Illustrator) to CSS/HTML code.
- Provide training and support to content editors.
- Maintain legacy static sites using Dreamweaver.
- Work with other staff to conduct web accessibility and usability evaluations on new and existing department and campus web sites.
- Provide technical evaluation, consulting, training and support on web and adaptive technologies to students, faculty, staff, and to campus departments.
- Provide consulting, training and support to users with disabilities.
- Train users on how to use various hardware and software solutions as access tools and compensatory strategies.
- Maintain computer lab and laptop fleet with specialized adaptive technology software.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of HTML, XML and CSS (including the ability to hand-code).
- Strong knowledge of PHP, JavaScript and AJAX.
- Knowledge of relational databases, including MySQL.
- Knowledge of Drupal or Plone.
- Knowledge of Python is a plus.
- Desire to learn and willingness to train others on web accessibility and adaptive technology.
- Working knowledge of Linux, Mac and Windows operating systems.
- Excellent communication skills.
