A few ideas were put forth at the April meetup for next month's presentation topic. Let's see if we can get some consensus on topic and presenter. Suggesstions were:
- Why Drupal?
Why choose Drupal over some other CMS? What's special about Drupal the platform and Drupal the community? -- Suggested a small panel rather than a single presenter - Intro to Panels
High-level overview of the Panels module. What it's for and how to use it. - Drush
What is Drush? How to install? How it will rock your workflow.
I made a quick poll to gauge interest: http://groups.drupal.org/node/140984. Please take a second to vote. Also, note that only one topic has someone who has volunteered to present so far. We'll run this for a week and see what we get.
For May's site showcases, brucelet and nitrosx have agreed to present. Could both of you contact me please and let me know what the topic/site for your showcase will be?
I'd like to get all this sorted by next weekend at the latest so we can promote the meetup early.
I'm going to check and see, but we may have a venue change for May. I think we're rapidly approaching capacity for the RCI conference room. I talked to Josh at Istanbul Grille in Lawrenceville and he seemed amenable to having us. I'll check out the wifi and projector/screen situation and see if this will work for us. Any objections to Lawrenceville?
Also, some agenda changes! Nothing's set in stone, so if you want to weigh in, please comment!
- No more long intros. Maybe we replace these with nametags, or something else to help people find each other. Not sure there's value in spending the first 20+ minutes introducing ourselves each month.
- Open with announcements, then the showcases and the presentation, with free discussion afterwards. This way, people that need to leave still have the opportunity to see the presentation.
Thanks to everyone for coming out this month. Video from my views presentation should be up sometime this weekend (or monday...?) when I get a few minutes. I'll post a tar of the demo site + db as well.
