Hi all,
This post will get updated as more details come to light, please signup to get notified of updates
After the great success of our first DrupalDownunder in January in Brisbane, and the overwhelming support for the idea we should do it all again - DDU2012 is planned for Jan14-15 in Melbourne.
That's the weekend immediately before linux.conf.au which will be in Ballarat (90 mins drive north west of Melbourne).
We're in the early stages of organising so there's not much to tell, but here's the basics.
Venue - in the city, near the Queen Vic Market.
Venue is booked, deposit is half paid, contract is signed but not delivered. We'll announce the venue as soon as that's all done. It's a small city hotel, with lovely conference facilities. It's a great location and we're really excited we've been able to book in.
Sponsors - Make it happen!
Sponsor information is being prepared - if you can't wait for the package and you're interested in sponsoring DDU2012, please get in touch with me donna at cc.com.au or brian @ realityloop.com - we'd be happy to chat. We have a conservative, break even budget. A lot of the 'cool' stuff we'd like to see happen will only be possible if sponsors commit early to help us make it happen. Things like great conference wide wireless internet access for all delegates, video of all sessions, international keynote speakers. These things all cost big bucks, so sponsorship is the only way we can do it, and keep ticket prices low so the event is accessible to all our Drupalistas.
Website - Call for sessions and Registration.
Temporary website is now live at: http://2012.drupaldownunder.org/
We'll be setting up COD based site soon.
I've made a wiki page for thoughts and discussions from the community about the kind of event you'd like to attend in Melbourne in January. What do you want to learn? What do you want to share?
Our team.
The core team is comprised of Donna Benjamin, Brian Gilbert, Jane Trinh Gilbert, and Peter Lieverdink - but we'll be needing a huge amount of support from you, the Australian Drupal community to help make this happen.
