Using and managing your Open Atrium site
What is Open Atrium?
Open Atrium is an open source platform designed specifically to help teams communicate better. An intranet in a box, it includes:
- a blog (for sharing stories and information, and to encourage discussion)
- a wiki (to manage and share documents and attachments)
- a calendar (to coordinate events and meetings)
- a to-do list (to assign, classify and prioritize tasks)
- a shoutbox (to share short messages, links, and information)
- a dashboard (to manage it all)
Who should take this training?
This training is for anyone interested in using Open Atrium to help their team(s) better collaborate. We will explore each of the features, both from the perspective of day-to-day usage, as well as the options available to better suit them to your organization.
N.B. We will not cover installation, as we assume participants will prefer the security and stability of a hosted service. Individual training and support can be arranged to cover installation, if desired.
Format
This course will last 3 to 4 hours, and assume no previous knowledge of Open Atrium or Drupal. Koumbit will provide an Open Atrium for participants to explore and experiment with. It will be hands-on, and thus requires the use of a computer.
N.B. Each participant is asked to either bring their own laptop, or communicate with us to ensure we can provide a computer for them.
Goals
Following this training you will be able to effectively use and configure all of Open Atrium's core features. Also, we will cover general site usage, as well as some topics on effectively administering your site, such as managing users and groups.
