Drupal Maintenance Specialist - Contract

Communications units within the University of Chicago and the University of Chicago Medical Center are seeking a long-term contract position for a Drupal Maintenance Specialist. Many of our Drupal-powered websites require vigilant updating of each site’s Drupal core and contributed modules as they become available. Candidates for this position must have experience with Drupal installation, Drupal module update procedures, and writing/performing test scripts to ensure successful updates to modules. The candidate must also have development experience using Drupal.

  • Required experience with Drupal development and maintenance using Drupal 6 core modules, and these contributed modules:
    • CCK
    • GMap
    • ImageAPI
    • Imagecache
    • Panels
    • Views
  • Preferred experience working with Drupal modules:
    • Content Taxonomy
    • Feed API
  • Excellent understanding of PHP, XHTML, CSS3, MySQL databases, database architecture, and FTP.
  • Experience working with Drupal multisites sites that utilize production, staging, and development servers.
  • Experience working with multimedia players is required (JW Player).
  • Requires that the candidate applies a methodical approach to applying updates, perform testing, updating documentation, and communicating results.
  • Ability to develop and execute test scripts for core and module updates.
  • Good understanding of social networking integration and the Google Maps API.
  • The candidate must be able to work closely with Project Managers and/or Site Owners to schedule updates and prepare downtime communications.
