Hey gang! I think I've finally recovered from DrupalCon and the time change. Now, I want to passing along a few updates on from DrupalCon.

  1. Job postings

I got quite a bit of feedback about the job postings to this forum. With that being said, I will start moderating job postings. The most recent slate of postings have been removed from the group. Moving forward, if you want to collectively parcel job postings into one listing that will be acceptable. In the meantime, if you feel that this is inappropriate, please contact me.

  1. Adding new administrators.

As of today, please welcome four new administrators!
- Kirsten Burgard, http://groups.drupal.org/user/56616
- Kieran Lal, http://groups.drupal.org/user/106
- Hanno Lans, http://groups.drupal.org/user/14001
- Alan Palazzolo, http://groups.drupal.org/user/7585

As we move on, we will be adding a few more people to the team to help us create a more vibrant and global community.

  1. Events / Summits / Hackdays

With DrupalCon over and Drupal Government Days < http://groups.drupal.org/node/98784 > fast approaching, it's time we put some energy into organizing Drupal Gov Days/Summits around important conferences. With the roll out of OpenPublic, we have a great opportunity to stand on the shoulders of each other and demonstrate the unique value of Drupal.

That being said, I've started a thread between the Drupal for Local Gov & State/Drupal Conversations <http://groups.drupal.org/node/133989 >. I want to flush out a number of optional days, and then figure out how to start programming "summits" around them. Please help us figure out where to do with this.

FYI, a "summit" as I'm describing is a mixture between a hackday, unconference, and a "con." Check out this summary < http://groups.drupal.org/node/98784 >.

  1. OpenData working group

Brian from World Economic Forum hosted a BoF to discuss how to best build an OpenData portal in drupal. Since there were many overlaps between Government and NGOs, we've created a new Drupal Working Group < http://groups.drupal.org/opendata-working-group >. The stated goals are to: 1. Document open data best practices. 2. Figure out how to build off of the best practices by building apps for OpenPublic.

  1. OpenPublic is now in the wild!!!

OpenPublic is now in the wild with a new framework for exchanging code. OpenPublic features an App-like Store, and clearly is the direction distributions and KIT frameworks will be heading. Check out http://openpublicapp.com/ for the latest.
