The BiD Network Foundation seeks an experienced software engineer to work in a team on the new multi-community platform which is scalable, manageable and flexible.
About the BiD Network Foundation
The foundation’s objective is to stimulate entrepreneurship in developing countries by supporting start-ups businesses. It uses the online platform: www.bidnetwork.org. Currently, it is a 36,000 member-strong online community for entrepreneurs and business centres. The BiD Network Foundation is transferring the platform’s rights and its IT team to a spin-off software company called BiDx. The BiDx B.V. is the employer of the IT team which currently re-develops and improves the online platform using Drupal 6. The company will continue developing and operating the BiD Network platform into a multi-community platform with the same objective as the foundation.
Job Description
The BiD Network Foundation seeks an experienced software engineer to work in a team on the new multi-community platform which is scalable, manageable and flexible. The team uses Drupal 6 as a development framework and the scrum Agile software as development method. You will work together with two other software engineers, an interaction designer, an infrastructure engineer. The team is headed by a Project Manager and supported by a Business Analyst and a Communications & Marketing Officer.
Job Requirements
The required skills are
- a minimum of 4 years experience as a software developer with at least 2 years as a Drupal developer
- experience with databases such as MySQL and Postgres
- experience working with source control management systems such as SVN
- ability to perform in a fast-paced Agile environment
- good written and spoken English
- good communication skills and a can-do attitude
It would be a bonus if you have
- contributed to Drupal Core and/or Drupal contributed modules
- experience with one or more of the following: Drush, Solr, Alfresco, CIVICRM, LDAP
- experience with building high scale community websites
- experience with building multi-language websites
- experience in web development for mobile devices
- experience with testing frameworks such as Selenium or Watir
- a Degree in Computer Science or similar
