Of the seventeen (17) who signed-up for the meet-up, ten (10) showed up. In addition, four (4) walk-ins came, invited by some of the enlistees. All in all, fourteen (14) cheerful and smart Drupal users and developers had a grand time during the event.

The highlight of the meet-up was the distribution of certificate of attendance to participants of the February 5-6 DrupalCampManila 2011.

Two attendees shared their Drupal know-how to the group:

Jun Abejo (aka borrico1965) highlighted the power and versatility of Webform module. He showed simple and actual examples of its use in a site, still in development. He also proposed some practical suggestions on how to strengthen the users' community: that users should be generous in sharing their Drupal knowledge and skills (whatever the level) to the group; in the process, a stronger bond among community members will be built and will be strengthened in time.

Daniel Honrade (aka danielhonrade) of Promet Source gave a presentation on his latest creation, OM Base Theme and its “side-kick”, OM Admin Theme. He showed the simplicity and scalability of the theme. He also highlighted the lessons he learned from the other themes he has been using in the past and how he incorporated them in his new theme.

The next meet-up was discussed. Majority of those present prefer monthly meet-ups to quarterly ones. It seems, a three- to four-week interval between meet-ups is sufficient enough to recover from the excitement and exhilaration during every meet-up.

Let us hope the proposal of one of the attendees, a member of an IT-related trade group, will push through. It is crucial for the feasibility of the next meet-up. Watch-out for it here.

The Philippine Drupal Users' Group (PhDUG) members, both present and absent at this meet-up, are grateful to EXIST, to its owners, managers and staff, for being generous and selfless in lending its facilities. This liberality, for sure, will be rewarded abundantly. “Thank you very much, EXIST!”

Until the next Meet-up and/or the next Drupal Camp in the Philippines!
